What is a Mobile City Card?
Our Mobile City Card is a digital card which has the same contents as the physical card. The card is sent by text message (SMS) to your mobile phone. Please note that the Mobile City Card works in all phones that contain a web browser=internet.
How does it work?
After you have bought your City Card at goteborg.com/citycard, you will receive a text message sent to your mobile (See step 1). This happens within 10 minutes after you have completed your purchase. The text message contains a link which you click on to open the City Card, which is shown in the form of a QR-code in your mobile (see step 2). The QR-code is scanned at the first attraction you visit and is valid for the numer of hours you selected when you made your purchase. You will only need an internet connection to open the link in the text message and to download the QR-code. The best way to use the Mobile City Card is to save the QR-code as a picture. This way you don’t need to have an internet connection to use the QR-code later on in your visit. Please note that it is important to save the text message since the web link is needed in case of problems scanning the QR-code.
Activating your Mobile City Card
The card is activated when the QR-code is scanned at the first attraction you visit. The card is then valid for the amount of hours you selected when you made your purchase. When you travel on public transport you must be able to present your City Card when asked to do so by inspector or driver. Please note that your card does not need to be registered at an attraction prior to using it on public transport.
The parking card that is included as well as the shopping coupons can be collected from the Tourist Information Centres at Kungsportsplatsen or in Nordstan.
